Tropical Depression One formed on May 29 at 3:00 PM. It strengthened to Tropical Storm One at 4:00 PM. One strengthened to a Category 1 hurricane at 5:00 PM. Hurricane One reached winds of 85 mph at 7:00 PM and earned the name Amy. As Amy moved over Florida, it weirdly strengthened to a Category 2 on May 30. On June 1, Amy rapidly strengthened to a Category 5 in South Carolina. Amy strengthened at midnight June 1-2 to a Category 6. On June 2, Amy continued to strengthen, to a Cat. 7, then a 8, and a 9, a 10, and lastly a 11. Category 11 Hurricane Amy moved to the Great Lakes on June 3, during a hotwave. The hotwave caused Amy to reach peak intensity, a pressure of 596 mbar and 445 mph winds, over Michaign and Kentucky. It was the size of half of South America! Amy tired to go near waters for strength but the waters did nothing. On July 16, it rapidly weakened to a tropical storm.  Amy had winds of 53.6 mph and 999 mbar. Amy weakened to a tropical depression on July 30 and disspated easliy on July 31.
